Chaos and Potty Training?!

Anyone...and I repeat anyone that has been through the potty training process has to know that chaos should always be in any sentence associated with it. This is the week (of all weeks) Ayden has decided to show a slight interest in the whole potty training process. I guess I was getting slightly nervous that he would never be interested, but all of you that know him realize that he is much more concerned with talking and running around than he is with anything else. That being said I was still worried, because now he has kids in his daycare class that are younger than him and are completely trained (they are girls though).
On with the story......Monday afternoon while leaving daycare Linda told Ayden to be sure to go to the "big boy potty" when he got home. So, sure enough as he was getting ready for his bath...he says, "Mommy, I wanna go to the big boy potty". So, we continue on through the climbing on the potty that we have grown accustomed to over the last few months. Never has the whole process been a success, well, until this night. He is always pretty eager for something to happen and at the end always says "Mommy my did it". But, you should have seen his face with the two little drops of pee pee actually came out this night. He looked at me...with a huge grin, hops down off the potty, and says "Mommy my did it, my so excited"! It was way too cute!
So, of course yesterday I had to tell the story to Linda. She proceeded in telling Ayden how proud she was and that he was such a big boy! Then, you'll never believe it --- but, he actually had the same few drops last night. Is this progress? Maybe or maybe not, but you couldn't help but be proud of him with his excitement expressed all over his little face.

OK...the tell all will be next week as his daycare teacher has informed me to come Monday morning with five sets of clothes in tow. She says we are dropping the pull-ups and going straight to big boy underwear. This could prove to be interesting........ I'll keep you posted; oh by the way, does anyone want to help me with laundry next week? Ha Ha!

You and him will do fine. This is another stepping stone in his life that he is taking. Just reward and praise him each time he goes to the potty. When he does potty in his pants (which he will, get ready)don't get upset just explain to him and set him on the potty. When it clicks in his little mind of what he is trying to do it will become natural to him. We all have been there and did just fine. Good luck----Love, Dena
